Since image posting on these forums is quite common, and some of you cannot resize your images on your own PC before uploading them, I am going to direct you to a nice lightweight tool that's made by Microsoft to assist you. There are far too many occurrences of images being posted that appear far too big for the most common monitor resolutions used by forum members.

Microsoft PowerToys Image Resizer (Microsoft.com)

This tool was designed for Windows XP users. Windows Vista users, please skip this part, as there's an alternative application for you below this.

Microsoft PowerToys Image Resizer will enable you to resize many of your images at once, even making copies instead of overwriting the originals, and without the need to enter an application. It exists only as a Context Menu item, as in, when you right-click an image in a folder or on the desktop, it will show the option to "Resize Image". It's quick and easy.

Instructions on how to use this tool from Microsoft, with easy to understand screenshots, are located here.

Since Windows Vista users cannot make use of the Microsoft PowerToys Image Resizer tool, there's a third-party alternative, called VSO Image Resizer, available for download.

VSO Image Resizer (VSO-Software.fr)

This neat tool works along the same principles as the Microsoft PowerToys Image Resizer.

Instructions on how to use this tool from VSO Software, with easy to understand screenshots, are located here.

IMPORTANT:

As of today, we would insist that the maximum size for any image showing in a post on these forums should be 640x480 (or 480x640 - just so long as the width and/or height doesn't exceed 640 pixels). If your image badly needs to be bigger, you can use standard URL links or links within any image, directed to a bigger image, as long as the posted image size on the forums doesn't exceed the 640 pixels regulation. Also, you can use thumbnails.

Anyone who posts bigger images will have them removed immediately. Repeat offenses will warrant the awarding of forum warnings. There will be no excuses accepted (eg. "I don't have Photoshop...", and so on). These simple tools are now readily available to you, therefore, there should not be any excuse for non-compliance.

Thank you,
Seif.

For images that need to be bigger than 640x480, here's what I suggest.

The thumbnail:

Code:
Example Code:
[URL=http://imagestack.deceifermedia.com/images/1/P1000019.jpg][IMG]http://imagestack.deceifermedia.com/images/1/P1000019_thumb.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

The smaller image to the bigger image link:

Code:
Example Code:
[URL=http://imagestack.deceifermedia.com/images/1/P1000019.jpg][IMG]http://imagestack.deceifermedia.com/images/1/P1000019_small.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

You'll just have to manually create the smaller image yourself, and in this case, it's 640x480. You should then upload it alongside the bigger image. As you can see, the code for displaying the smaller image, whilst linking it to the bigger image, is quite simple. It works on the same principle as a thumbnail.

Thank you,
Seif.

P.S. For those of you who are curious, the guy in the picture is my far more attractive, but far less intelligent, younger brother, on Christmas Day.
